Description

Once in a while, you read a series that really blows you away. This was probably the most recent series that I felt that way about and I'm glad to get a great representative page from it. I talked to Kurt Busiek, and he said this series was the only time he was able to apply the Astro City type story telling to a mainstream character. When I asked him to sign this page, he said this was the first time he signed original art from this series.

A truly compelling re-imagining of the Superman mythos. Like you, the story blew me away, and it felt like I had just read like a movie. Great work on finding and acquiring this rare gem!

Beautiful page - fraught with all the essential Immonen hallmarks (incredible composition, breathtaking execution) including his amazing ability to replicate the styles of other great artists (those last couple panels really conjure the spirit of Alex Ross, of course). Thank you for relaying Kurt Busiek's thoughts on this great story! I had not heard that before... Most interesting. GREAT piece! Congrats!
