Description

Update: After 11 years, I am finally replacing a poor digital photo with a proper scan of this commission. I never get tired of looking at this one.

From 2007: Once again Mike Machlan delivers a super commission for my gallery. This drawing was setup directly with the artist in March 2007 and completed one month later.

Mike chose to lightbox Arvell Jones' pencils onto a fresh sheet of paper and ink them separately. The level of finish that he's brought to this piece is really something to behold.

Marvel Two in One 54, an issue that was part of the memorable Project Pegasus storyline, was originally drawn by John Byrne and Joe Sinnott. I see a heavy Joe Sinnott influence in Mike's inking on this piece (a very good thing!)

The characters shown here are Quasar, the Thing and Deathlok. The crushed robotic hand and the arm in the sling are all story-specific elements from MTIO 54.

Fantastic piece - the Project Pegasus storyline was one of my favorite storyline growing up and Marvel Two-In-One was one of the best titles of the late 70s!
