Description

Uninked pencils from Kirby's tenure at Marvel are rare especially from this fertile period when Jack drew such stories as the first Inhumans saga, the Galactus trilogy, and the first Black Panther. It's clear Jack was firing on all cylinders when he drew this piece the same year as these aforementioned greats and presented it to artist Don Heck as a gift. That year was 1966 and Jack's work was reaching for the stars. The era of cosmic Kirby had arrived!

Hans, a wonderful piece of Silver Age Kirby magic..pure pencils in a complex body suit that only the King's fertile imagination and skill could create. A wonderful image that now graces a print for the Kirby Museum...great pick up.

Beautiful and classic Kirby--and I love that Jack valued his art enough to give it away as gifts to those he was close to (and that they appreciated the art enough to recognize it as a worthy gift). Just interesting to see such clear evidence of it being much more than just a job for him...
