DescriptionAlthough others may disagree, in my view, Gene Colan was best known for his work on Daredevil - Howard the Duck, Dr. Strange, and Tomb of Dracula notwithstanding. True, Gene worked on virtually every major Marvel title (and most major DC titles) during his long career. But, Colan began his run on Daredevil with issue 20, and penciled all but three issues through issue 100. What are the odds of seeing that continuity these days?

Granted, a very interested spectator given the things he is adding to his collection. Another great piece in your amazing collection, Mr. Sonenthal.

Colan gem! The secret of Colan's art remains elusive today, still the impact is amazing! Confirmed inks are by Colan on this one?

This one is so different from what the other Marvel artists were doing at that time (heck, maybe what anyone else has ever done) - I love it!

Great cover. Colan followed Romita's lead in his first few issues, but you can really see his style forming here. And it's got Thor, too! How cool is that?

Of course my favorite work from Gene was all the great art he produced with Tom Palmer. And while many would mistakenly give Tom the credit for how that work looked, this great early cover proves otherwise. Maybe not QUITE as smooth as Palmer inked lines, but the trademark flow of Genes beautiful pencils are clearly evident here. Another amazing gem in your incredible collection! Congratulations yet again Ron!

Ron, a superb Colan masterpiece! I remember this comic when I picked it up as a back issue for a few dollars a year or two after I started reading comics! It stunned me that Daredevil could go toe to toe with the mighty Thor! A twice-up DD Colan cover, indeed!

Totally agree Ron, even though I'm a Copper Age kid, Gene Colan is the artist that I think about when I envision DD. He is the classic artist for the character IMO. This is such a great cover, sincere congrats on obtaining it for your collection and posting it here for us to enjoy.

My first Daredevil comic I bought off the spinner rack as a kid ! I just couldn't believe anybody could move like that, the way Colan could draw a figure doing such incredible stunts, twists, and flips, just simply Marvelous ! Brings back such great memories and I truly believe it's why I became a gymnast back in those days.
