DescriptionI've been in love with this page of art since 1980. Twelve year old me thought the woman in panel one was pretty hot, and it was this story in Marvel Preview where Bill Sienkiewicz's art really left an impression on me. I didn't know who Neal Adams was at the time, and didn't know Bill was working his way out of Neal's stylistic shadow like many other artists of that era.I was surprised to see this in a recent Heritage Weekly auction, and after some words of encouragement from Kasra I threw a single bid on the artwork that I felt wouldn't win the art, but was strong enough to make me feel like I tried to get it. And look what happened! This artwork was in the Tom Palmer collection of pieces that Heritage has been selling the past year. It's amazing to me that something 44 years old was purchased for the first time! Social/Sharing |

You can't win if you don't play. So glad Kasra talked you into bidding (good job Kaz). And I'm so glad it held up. Obviously the art gods determined this was where it was meant to be. Sorry the 12-year old you had to wait so long. But heck, considering that you are the first person to ever own this page (not counting Tom) in 44 years, that's pretty freaking awesome! Congratulations sir!

Great grab Bill! I saw this on HA and am happy it went to you. Such a fun page. The artwork is wonderful early Sienkiewicz and the dialog is god awful and hilarious. Everything you'd want in a Moon Knight.

Lovely page from the interesting transition period. Now the important question. Did panel one have the same effect, or was it better, as you were seeing it in the flesh, this many years on? A one word answer will suffice.

This is a fantastic interior right down to the panel layout. It's a perfect mix of story and action. You weren't wrong about that first panel either, but Moon Knight dropping down in the other is just as sexy! Huge congrats, Bill!

Love the blue highlights and how they help give it a noir vibe (or maybe it's just the similarity to the Darwyn Cooke Parker art). Always nice when you're able to pick up a page that meant a lot to your younger self, so congrats on taking the plunge!

Fantastic Bill Sienkiewicz Moon Knight page! Love this early Sienkiewicz work, with two opening scenes, both set in offices: One office is of Steven Grant, one of Moon Knight's many personalities, and the other of a unnamed psychiatrist. We learn first that Steven Grant doesn't like his Moon Knight personality and we wonder why? Then the scene cuts to the psychiatrist's office and--WHAM! a Moon Cresent that slams into the psychiatrist's desk! Then SLAM! Moon Knight leaps from a roof window and lands on top of the desk. Then Moon Knight grabs the psychiatrist by the collar and interrogates him. The psychiatrist quickly gives up the information MK wants. This show of brutal agggressiveness shows us exacly why Steven Grant doesn't like his alter ego. Great storytelling by Sienkiewicz and Palmer! Love this page!
