I had to play the Al Williamson card, or no one here would care about Patterson's work.

Frank Patterson (1871-1952) was a British illustrator known worldwide for his cycling illustrations. Patterson began working for Cycling Weekly in 1893 and continued until his death, working under six editors. Patterson is known primarily for his wonderful pen & ink work, delineating landscapes, buildings, people, and of course, bicycles. When I met Al Williamson at his home many years ago, he mentioned Patterson to me, telling me that Patterson was one of his favorite pen & ink artists. It took a while for me to find a nice little Patterson drawing, but I'm glad I did. Please check out the additional image for a detail shot.

Just for the architecture alone and it's history makes this illustration very interesting as they've renovated and changed aspects of the facade over the years. The bike makes it look accessible as these are old landmarks shown in the magazine that takes the readers to these places.
