Description

I've wanted an original piece from Neal (particularly a Supergirl) for decades and after his passing, I assumed any hope was gone. A few months after he died, I ran across a live sale from the Facebook page his kids run and figured I'd ask if there were any Supergirl pieces left. Coincidentally, they'd featured one about 10 minutes earlier. I was blown away by what I saw, but I was hesitant to pull the trigger because the work wasn't all Neal and his signature was gone. But as his daughter, Kris pointed out, Neal said that a perfect Supergirl had to exude playfulness & strength plus have great cape & great hair, and this checked all the boxes. I mulled it over for a few hours and ultimately decided to make the deal. I'm glad I did because I've had zero buyer's remorse and enjoy it the more I look at it, even though I never imagined ever buying anything airbrushed. It seems like Neal utilized this pose several times over the last few years, but this is definitely the best of what I've seen. Anyway, the pencils & inks are by Neal, the color on the figure was done by Tim Shinn, and the background was done by Jason Adams.

They are good to deal with and up front about who did what, so with the scarcity of Neal Adams Supergirl pieces out there, you not only get Neal on the piece, but the result of the studio that he had built with his life's work.

I'm glad to see this Supergirl art got a good home. I mulled over the piece as well but wound up getting another. This piece though collabrated is bright, cheerful and colorful and a wonderful addition to any Neal Adams collection. You also have the direct purchase from his children with COA so provenance is solid. Congrats on the buy!
