Hey Doyle, how is it going?
This piece was sketched and inked on Strathmore Bristol Board and measures 11" x 17".
OK, by a show of hands, how many people ot there have see the movie "Pee Wee's Big Adventure", five, six, seven...OK one of you have. Now in that movie there is a seen where Pee Wee Herman is running back and forth saving the animals from a burning pet shop, all the animals except the snakes. This piece of artwork was to me what those snakes were to Pee Wee in the movie. Everytime I would take it out of the folder and look at it, I would make faces and then go running off making stupid noises...it really began to bother my wife. So then I turned to my magic 8 ball and consulted it regularly to see if I should start on this picture, lucky for me the answer was always either "not clear right now" or "future hazzy". So the other day when it finally said yes, I knew that it was time so I jumped in with both feet and here is what I came up with. the background took two days and everything else took at least one more. I hope it brings you many days of enjoyment in the future Doyle! Oh, and by the way check out Doyle K. Davis on this site. He has a VERY nice collection gathered together. All hail the Magic 8 Ball!
