DescriptionThis is the 3rd page of BWS's classic 90s Wolverine story, 'Weapon X'.This was always one of my favorite pages. The rendering on Logan and his clothing mesmerizes me to this day. A casual, early page that always stuck with me, before Logan entered the program. It's not as flashy as later pages filled with claws and blood and calculator-loincloths, but I felt the earliest pages were incredibly strong, showing Barry's excitement to putting in the design and effort he wanted. I got this direct from the BWS Studio in 2017. I had asked about 4 pages from the series, and they offered me this one, plus a couple of pages I'd asked about from Storytellers. I waffled for a month before finally settling on this one. This page does a lot of slick work with leading the eye. The direction of the rain leads from panel 1 to panel 2, the eyelines in p3 and p4 manage to pull you over to p5. P6 is facing the same direction as p5 to pull you along. The gun is lined up with a wire that pulls you up to the top of the final panel. The choices of blacks and whites and rendering are incredibly well chosen. It creates an illusion of the hanging light in p3 illuminating the rest of the page below. A masterclass in layout. It is signed BWS in two places. Fun Oddity: Whatever ink he used, this may be the blackest-ink art I own. Social/Sharing |

I also find this page very strong artistically. The layout and the inking are particuarly striking. Excellent addition!

Great page from an iconic story--and one of the few where we get to hear Logan speak (or think at least). Very cool!

BWS is such a talent and it's easy to see a lot of artistic choices in this page design and in his technique.

These first pages with lots of small panels are my favorite part of the series. And this is a great one, with very iconic BWS touches all over. This is a great find!
