Description

This is it!!

I wanted to wait 'til some other art that is due me came in before I posted this, but who knows when that will happen.

(I wanted to save the best for last...)

I have been wanting a piece of Michael Golden art for forever.

I've dug his work since I first saw it in Micronauts #7 when I bought it at a 7-11 near where my Mom's mom and brothers lived.

Bought it solely for the Man-Thing cover.

(bought every comic book with a monster/dinosaur in it back then)

For those of you that are wondering (with good reason) why such a big deal for a DEFCON 4 cover from Wildstorm and why trade away my Jim Lee Ghost Rider page for it.

You're right;

- You must not have been looking very hard!!

- There are ton (TON!) of covers by Michael Golden available out there!! Affordable ones, too!!

- There HAS been a pile of art in general available by Michael Golden for quite a while!!

Look... I love Michael's art.

I just never saw/have seen anything that spoke to me.

The stuff that does/has?

I could never afford.

Then this popped up on Burkey's site.

I had to have this;

- I saw this in person at a local 'con YEARS ago that Michael attended regularly.

- It's one of the first variant covers that Wildstorm ever did.

- It's a Wildstorm COVER by MICHAEL GOLDEN!!

- Has most all the staples of what makes Michael... Michael.

Action. Mech. Guns. Eyes. (and most importantly) a "Golden Girl"!! (my term. use at your leisure) Only thing it doesn't have is a skull somewhere.

This sucker is AMAZING in person.

Detail is CAR-A-ZEE!!

Can't find any artist white!!

(or his signature G for that matter. HELP!)

So stoked to own this.

Thank you to Dave Kopecki and Mike Burkey!!!

The 3way trade/cash deal was Dave's idea and I am so happy my first page of original art is in Dave's hands.

Goes nicely with his X-Men #8 collection for sure!!

Later, gang.

HAPPY COLLECTING!!

EDIT: The page I sent to Dave for the 3-way was used by Dave to obtain another Campbell Grail for his collection!! So... A win-win-win!!

When this one was quickly sold, I figured it was either Ben, Dave, you or me (I knew it wasn't me somehow). This one is fantastic indeed. Great (if busy) composition. EXCELLENT rendition. While the Jim Lee pages willl most likely end up being more valuable (who cares about such things anyway?,), you did the right choice for you (and Dave) as your enthusiasm clearly attests. Huge congrats.

HA!!!  "I knew it wasn't me somehow".  Made my morning!!  Too funny!  Yeah, man...  You're right.  That Ghost Rider page by Jim will hold it's value better, but I just can't do out o' pocket stuff like that.  Getting Dave the page helps the pain of having to sacrifice.  Thanx, man!!  Means a lot to me!!

Thanx for the comment, James!!  Yeah, man...  TON of stuff going on for sure, but not cluttered.  It's been said (for good reason) by lots of collectors in the past...  This scan doesn't do this piece justice!!

He really, really is!!  I just smile from ear to ear every time I pull a book from my "Michael Golden" boxes to reread/look at (he did a LOT of covers!!).  Thanx for the comment, Bill!!  Take care and Happy Collecting!!
