Abstract Reality: The Art of Dave Gutierrez

May 1, 2008 --- VEI Press announces that Abstract Reality: The Art of Dave Gutierrez will be launched at the upcoming Super-Con convention in San Jose, California May 17-18. Dave Gutierrez will attend the convention for the launch and will be signing books, as well as doing sketches.

Gutierrez demonstrates his artistic versatility in his first collected book, with work that ranges from fluid, trippy original pen and ink creations to his masterful inking of comic book legend Gene Colan to highly detailed pencil illustrations to serene watercolors and sequential art storytelling. The full-color hardcover book contains more than 50 works by the artist, most published here for the first time. This collection offers an excellent introduction to Gutierrez�s talent, humor, and spirit, informed by his background as a professional tattoo artist, architect, penciller, inker, and colorist, as well as thrash metal guitarist.

The books have specially designed plates for the signature and numbering, as well as for the sketches. They are being made available in the following formats:
