DescriptionA beautiful painting by Dave Stevens called Sweet Lorraine. One of my favorite things about this piece is that it really lets you see into the mind and observe every aspect of Stevens' artistic process.You can see every stage. It shows a little bit of his original pencils untouched. From there you see a little bit of his blue pencil work over that. Then it graduates into his inking right over his blue pencils. All of this work being done on the same art board the entire time. From there you see the beginning stages of his painting of the work all the way to it's large portion of completion. It has been published in almost all of Dave Stevens' different art books, including the iconic "The Art & Life of Dave Stevens: Brush With Passion" as a full page pinup piece. It was also featured in the Dave Stevens documentary film, "Dave Stevens: Drawn to Perfection". However, most notably it was chosen to be published on the cover of the Dave Stevens book called "Dave Stevens Complete Sketches & Studies". To simply say how beautiful Dave Stevens painted her is the largest understatement I could make. You just have to see it in person. Dave Stevens actually kept this piece in his own personal collection until after his sad passing. No matter how much time passes, I still can't believe he is no longer with us. As always, RIP Dave Stevens, RIP. I acquired this later, directly from the family, through their personal representative. Social/Sharing |

Wow, wow, wow! A Stevens has been on my art bucket list for decades. Major congrats on scoring this incredible gem of a painting. The tonal work on this is nothing short of phenomenal. I am SO jealous.

Very nice dimples! The smile puts you at ease to go forth and study the rest of the anatomy work with a similar joy Stevens intended.

I'm in awe of Stevens's work. The documentary let me know of his perfectionism, and it shows in every piece. His women are soooo sexy. Her puffed out areola are to die for.
