DescriptionIf you had to ask me what the greatest comic book in history is...with apologies to worthy contestants such as Watchmen and the Dark Knight Returns, I would answer Alan Moore and John Totleben's magnum opus Miracleman every single time. In my wildest dreams, I never thought I would ever have the chance to own any of (my favorite comic artist ever) Mr. Totleben's work...but one day, I was lucky enough to stumble upon something that had evidently fallen through the cracks on eBay. This piece is so moody, haunting and evocative, I would have gladly paid twice as much for it. I still can't believe my good fortune in owning it. Won on eBay (somehow!). Thanks, John!!! :DSocial/Sharing |

Count me among Miracleman devotees, especially the issues Totleben drew. Congratulations on owning a beautiful, historically significant piece of art!

An honest to goodness Totleben. What a great piece. I'm quite envious.

A truly special piece from a tremendous work of comic storytelling genius. Kudos for nabbing Totleben on this one. Bravo.

I agree that Miracleman is absolutely top notch in both writing and art. Totleben's linework and layering through meticulously placed pen strokes is what sets him apart from everyone else. Awesome piece Carlos!

I totally agree in that Marvelman/Miracleman is an often overlooked and definitely unappreciated classic that belongs in any discussion of greatest stories ever. With all due respect to the work done in the earlier issues by Garry Leach, Totleben is the definitive Miracleman artist. Great find.

Absolutely in agreement! Miracleman/Marvelman is right up there with the best of the best, a perfect blend of action, emotion and even a good old dash of politics and philosophy. Any fan of the graphic storytelling medium who hasn't picked it up is missing out. And this illo is very cool - love the pose (he clearly rips up roofs for breakfast) and the expression on MM's face.
