DescriptionThe new DC Cinematic Universe is upon us with an official relaunch in 2025 with Superman (teaser trailer is out), but in a lowkey manner, James Gunn has started to put his imprint now with the Creature Commandos animated series on HBO Max. This is the cover to Weird War Tales 117 from 1982 by Rich Buckler and Romeo Tanghal. This has the original line up of creatures including a Frankenstein, a Medusa, A Wolfman, and a Dracula as they fight in WWII. The issue also featured a backup tale with GI Robot. Strange and offbeat stories just when you thought the war genre couldn't have anything new to offer.If you don't see another post from me this year (even through there will probably be a few), Have yourself a Merry Christmas from myself and the Crotch Goblin! This is like the Monster/War genre's (okay, that's not an actual genre) version of the Action Comics #1 cover! Given that the teaser trailer for Superman was released today, this is the perfect pieceof art to add to your gallery today! Feliz Navidad!

What a fun cover! Frank (throws) The Tank, Machine Gun Medusa, and even Teen Wolf showing his jumping skills! Thank goodness none of these creatures are going commando!

I read all of the original Creature Commandos stories a few years ago, so this a treat seeing some original art from those books! Buckler and Tanghal were always consistently good artists, and this cover is no exception!

Another Marvelous mashup! Creatures + Commandoes = OA GOODNESS. Frankie doin' his best OG Supes, and I just love Medusa in anything...including here. I mean a stone stare AND a rifle?! Best give it up, guys. Congrats, man!

I love the traditional way of comic cover creation and this has it in spades! All the wording, pasted on top, etc... Love it! I only have one such older piece created in this older traditional way. I will be posting it soon.
