Finally got my Whelan Elric example. This appears to be an earlier version of The Vanishing Tower cover. I like that Elric is more menacing than the final cover image.

Great job. I had this print in a whelan Calendar when I was a kid, which it was quicley removed from and became a poster. I'm very envious of our pick-up. Congratulations!

So awesome. I remember when this was up on Ebay a few years back. I bid pretty high, but not high enough! I had the poster for the finished version in my room for years. Congrats on an amazing acquisition.

This is a stunning example of Michael Whelan's preliminary work. Such tight detail and on an Elric piece no less. Whelan still has the original cover illustration hanging in his house, which IMO makes this a doubly nice treasure in your collection. Congrats!
