DescriptionI was saddened to learn that Stan Lee died today, November 12, 2018, at the age of 95. So many of the characters he helped create somehow managed to cheat death that I thought perhaps he had the secret, but evidently not.I had the pleasure of interviewing Stan a couple of times on the phone. I later met him in person at a couple of conventions, not that he remembered me from Adam, of course, but it was great to have a picture taken with him. He wrote the introduction for my first book, The Art of George Tuska. When he finished the introduction, he asked if I would like him to send me a signed version to print in the book. I told him no, that was okay, I could just scan his signature from the Origins of Marvel Comics book. (Yes, I am an idiot.)But for about six years or so, Stan and I exchanged Christmas cards. It started out as a whim, but when I found out he would reply, I sent him a card every year. After the Iron Man movie came out and his popularity soared even higher, the cards stopped coming. But I have fond memories (and a bunch of Christmas cards) from being Stan Lee's pen pal.RIP Stan with thanks from us all for making our world a lot more fantastic. This item is not for sale.Social/Sharing |

Wow, what a great experience for you to take with now that Stan has passed on. Thanks for posting.

Wonderful story--Stan always had that personal touch. Honestly so nice to see more evidence that, while I'm sure there was an onstage and off-stage Stan (as there is with everyone), he really was that personable, witty, and caring person we came to know in his soapboxes.
