WAAYYY back in the day when I first scouted out this comic art collecting thing, I was looking through ebay trying to get a sense for the market before buying my first piece. While browsing around, someone posted a very nice piece that really caught my eye. It was by an artist I had never heard of before (I had been out of comics for 10-15 years at that point) and although my bid finger twitched over the "confirm bid" button, I was too chicken to jump on it since I had no idea what market was.

Turns out it was an Uncle Sam page by Alex Ross. I went on to "discover" amazing work like Marvels and Kingdom Come, and really got a Jones to have a piece of Ross work in the collection. Through all that, except for maybe a choice piece from Kingdom Come (one of my all time favorite comics), I considered that very first piece that I missed out the definitive Alex Ross page for me.

Needless to say, missing out on purchasing this has always been one of my 2 major regrets in art collecting.

Flash forward 5 years, and the same piece is on ebay again!! And it actually goes a bit cheaper than it did 5 years ago (go figure...everyone wants superhero art). Needless to say, no twitching on the bidding finger this time ;-)

It was a round about trip, but I am pleased as punch to have snug in the collection.

Wow, what fantastic imagery and very powerful too. Congrats on a great acquisition and especially because of its meaning to you.
