AFTER OUR 4-ISSUE "BARKER" BACK-UP IN DETECTIVE COMICS, MIKE CAREY AND I STARTED A LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT ARC. HALF-WAY THROUGH THE FIRST ISSUE, THE BOOK WAS KILLED. THIS IS THE ONE BATMAN PAGE I DREW BEFORE PUTTING THE PENCIL DOWN.

Call me insane but, there's something Phantom-like about panel one. After all he did appear at least 3 years before Bats.
