DescriptionThere have been many times that I've been blown away by the good fortune that I've had with obtaining stunning pieces of original artwork and none of those many times surpass this piece, which was the first page I ever bought. My best pal was a huge DD fan and I inherited his DD run after losing him to Leukemia, I became obsessed with completing that collection. It was truely an obsession and I had the task of collecting a bit over 100 issues, most of which were the earliest of the run. All this while in graduate school and having the barest of disposable income. After quickly completing that run in 1997, I stumbled across this page. Luckily, it was the early age of ebay and before collecting original art was a craze. This page went unsold at auction, not having met the reserve. I contacted the seller and pounced on it at a price I could *kind of* afford.I hadn't been a huge DD fan prior to Sean's passing, but he became a fave of mine and with that passion, came a true appreciation for Gene Colan's artistic ability. I had it matted and framed early on, well before getting a scanner, but decided it was time to share this gem with others. This one has it all..... a great sense of movement and storytelling as well as alll of the qualities that made Marvel such a leader in the comic industry.... all-out action, the scheming villian and the best friend and girl wondering where Matt Murdock could have gone at such a time!! Great page indeed! I think Colan's style is even today one of the most amazing in the comics world

It's a rare instance when the plain clothes figures out-shine the super heroics, this is one of those instances. So good.
