Description(August 2008) This cover is pencilled and inked by the very talented Gary Frank. It is also signed by him. This is the first cover appearance of the real Braniac himself. I love how Superman looks like he does not know what to make of Braniac. Special thanks to Gary for reluctantly parting with this piece from his private collection.Social/Sharing |

Gary Frank is quickly becoming one of my all time favorite Superman artists. Great pick up!

lovely. Braniac reminds me of a mix between Darth Vader and Hellraiser....shivering!!! and Gary did a fantastic job..as always

Brainiac is more menancing on this cover than he was on the Action 242 cover. A modern day classic ! Congratulations !

There is palpable tension here that plays on both aliens encountering each other. While I loved Frank's work on the Hulk when he succeeded Dale Keown, his newer work truly blows me away, as he has developed a unique, realistic and engaging style all his own. And while I really liked Jon Sibal's inks in the interiors of the book, as you note, there is something particularly special about Gary Frank inking himself, which apparently is pretty hard to find outside of his cover art. Congratulations on obtaining an exceptional cover from Frank's now historic run on Superman!

This is quite a stunning cover. Gary Frank has always been solid but he has elevated himself to a new level lately.

I was struck by the 'heart' shape formed between Supes & Brainiac..... There's a tenderness in this encounter that seems both alien & human.... Remarkable art! :-)

Gary Frank has always impressed me, but I especially liked his run on Action. This cover was the best of the bunch by far. Congratulations on a great cover!
