Description

Clark, during his long classic 1970s period as a TV newscaster, gets the usual "clumsy Kent in front of a beautiful girl treatment" by beefcake sports reporter buddy Steve Lombard. I always wanted a page with this often repeated practical joke which was usually "answered" by Clark later in the same issue :) Steve arguably was (among with Morgan Edge who was created by Jack Kirby in “Jimmy Olsen”) the best supporting character in the “Superman Family” in the 1970s in my humble opinion ! He first appeared in Superman 264 (June 1973), created by writer Cary Bates, because legendary DC editor Julius Schwartz suggested adding a sportscaster to Clark Kent's news report !Look up my other Swan pages if you like what you see here ! The way Clark falls every time for that joke reminds me of Charlie Brown and Lucy van Pelt with their classic football punt gag :) Nice page!

Clark plays such a small town hick even after all his years at the Planet. I guess he's got to play along or slice Steve in half with his heat vision. A fine Swan Oksner combo, always nice to see when Oksner inks a lady.
