DescriptionWelcome back to another new art Sunday here at Shemp's Gallery.Missed last week, so at some point I'll have to post an extra piece. Today, in honor of the new Batman movie, we have an unpublished, unused Batman and Robin style guide from the 90's by Kerry Gammill. I bought this directly from Mr. Gammill via eBay. Kerry Gammill had a nice little run on the Superman titles for DC Comics during the 90's. I remember him more for his covers to the Power Girl mini series of the late 80's, especially that first cover. Batman & Robin by Kerry Gammill Social/Sharing |

Fantastic illustration of the Dynamic Duo. I dig the teardrop layout!

I love Kerry's art, he's so good. This is a terrific looking piece with great figure work. Nice to see what his pure pencils looked like during this time period, too.
You were introduced to his work by the Powergirl mini, though? Are you familiar with his PMIF run? If not, check it out. It was so good, especially with Villamonte inks and you can even spot Byrne influence sprinkled throughout, particularly in the faces and musculature.

I know he did Power Man and Iron Fist but that was after the fact. At the time I was purely a DC Comics guy, I still am, as you can see from my collection. I only dabbled in Marvel books. You're right, his work on PMIF was great.

Awesome piece! Gammill was working on the Superman books when I first started buying them, so I remember his artwork quite fondly. And yes, that Power Girl #1 cover was fabulous.

Oh, I'm well aware you're a big DC guy! I grew up 70/30 Marvel/DC, but it was only the lack of money that prevented adding more DC stuff that caught my eye but was never able to afford to read, like All-Star Squadron, Infinity Inc., etc. Really wish DC would collect those series. Anyway, good to know you eventually checked out the PMIF stuff!

Gammill's strong figures and pencil work are nicely displayed here.

Beautiful iconic look done in the style guide level for the movies and merchandising. Showcases the team dynamic between the two and framed under the bats and the batsignal!
