DescriptionThis piece is a dream come true for me. I have always wanted an Art Adams cover from his Wildstorm days, but have never been able to find one that was both available AND that I could work a deal for. I basically couldn't afford one outright, but I have become quite adept at trading these past couple years. This cover was one I have wanted in particular because it is a Gen13 cover and has the entirety of both teams on it. So when I came across it on another CAFer's gallery, I reached out and struck up a conversation. He wasn't looking to sell but he was very cool about it and said he would consider a trade if I had another Art Adams cover to trade to him for it. So here's where it got a little complicated and enter dealer Mike Burkey, aka ROMITAMAN. He had a nice Art Adams Marvel cover available that I verified the other guy wanted so I managed to do a 3-way deal. I traded Mike art and cash for his cover, had him ship directly to Murray (the other collector), and Murray sent this to me. Everyone is happy and I managed to get a cover I never thought possible! So HUGE thanks to Mike and Murray for working with me and making this dream come true! The original Gen13 was always one of my favorite titles from Wildstorm, and I also read a lot of the Marvel X-books at the time. So when they did this inter-company crossover, I was way into it. Art Adams was one of J Scott Campbell's main influences, so he made a great choice to do some of the Gen13 stuff. This cover is so incredibly detailed and includes all of both teams and their bad guys, powerfully penciled by Art with incredible inks by Alex Garner. I used to own a color guide to the Campbell variant cover for this issue, but this is so much cooler! I am on cloud 9 right now. :) This piece was the primary cover to issue #1 and was printed as a pinup in the same issue without the logo. It was also published as the 3D Special edition and the Comic Con Exclusive editions, and then published again in the Wildstorm Gallery Fine Arts book, which gathered some of the best of the best artwork that Wildstorm did at Image. So I have included all 5 images in the additional images. Social/Sharing |

Holy smokes this is a nice Adams cover. Has his signature plethora of characters he fills his whole space with. A lot of detail in a little space. Bravo!

I was the underbidder when this went on heritage. I didn't bid as high as I wish because I was holding out for a big piece later in the auction, which I eventually still lost. Those tough decisions are part of the game. I always loved the Garner inks on this. This was Garner at the top of his game over a legendary artist. Congrats a great piece.

I just realized that Arthur drew everybody together like one big super-teen team... (For some reason I was remembering a team per side of cover) So cool/bad-ass!!
