DescriptionI read more Marvel than DC when I was young but I feel bad for any whose eyes were not open to the classic DC Detective issues from Englehart, Rogers and Austin.I was very happy when a fellow lister gave me a shot at this page from Detective 475- thanks! One of the special elements of the run was Batman's relationship with Silver St. Cloud - the focus of this page. Obviously, the next page would pair up nicely.... Social/Sharing |

Great interior page from one of the best Batman stories ever. I put the Englehart/Roger/Austin run up there with the O'Neil/Adams stories, Miller/Janson, Miller/Mazzucchelli, and the Lee/Williams.

Ah, I remember this from way back. A bit of Batman and a bit of cheesecake. With the distance of years, seems a bit creepy even.

You sly dog. This is one of the most memorable pages of the run. Not only is the art fantastic, but the contrast of the highly vulnerable Silver and the hunkering Batman realistically portrays the vulnerability of normal people when faced with the superhuman. A terrific acquisition. Many congratulations!

In the 80's my friend used to own this page. I don't know what happened to my friend, but I do know what happened to the page! Congrats!

This is a great example of the early Rogers/Austin pairing. I am so glad that Marvel committed to another pairing of the Rogers and Austin dynamic on the several issues that they drew for Dr. Strange. Good luck on trying to acquire page 3.

Dynamic trio on Detective back then. Like you I was mainly a Marvel fan. But still bought many DC titles also. I remember this run well. Only Neal Adam's, Jim Aparos & Michael Golden's Batman were in the same league! Huge congrads! You lucky devil!

This masterpiece really have everything. I can hardly imagine a panel page that most perfectly represents the Batman dark "Dracula" side. And the 7th panel, that's just pure pop art, perfectly representing the genius of Marshall Rogers. Great, great piece.

I've looked at this page several times without commenting, but I can't hold out any longer. Terry Austin's inks on Marshall's pencils are just too perfect.
And the way Marshall depicted Bruce's shock when she denied him...also perfect.
What a page.
