WOW! A real stunner from a key issue. I believe Ben Oda has the missing word balloon as letterers at that time were known to trade paste ons with each other.

Wow! Stunning page. I love Colan drawing Medusa and this page has it all.

Colan's beautiful drawings of Medusa and his use of movement throughout the top of the page is wonderful and the panel of Blackbolt flying to the rescue is pure superhero derring-do. Also, since he often takes such gruff (often for good reason), I have to add that Vinnie's inks look pretty good throughout.

Awesome page with kinetic energy--love Medusa whipping around the Eiffel Tower. And Black Bolt is an added bonus, congrats on a great piece!

Oh, that's a really nice page. I saw the page at a convention years ago for sale. Wish I'd gotten it. Great capture!

You could have the word ballon restored if you can't find it.

"Seven minutes into the first episode, The Inhumans is still powered by what a playwright friend of mine described as “Because I Say So dramaturgy,” and readers, consider yourselves warned: It’ll drain the joy out of you, if you submit to it."

Yo, listen up, we got a tale to tell,
About Vince Colletta’s ink, man, it’s time to yell,
Comic book pages where the heroes dwell,
But his inking’s so weak, gotta ring the bell.
(Verse 1)
Colletta on the pen, but the lines so thin,
Sacrificing detail for a quick win,
Jack Kirby’s art, it deserves to soar,
But Vince’s ink? Man, it’s such a bore.
Erase the shadows, make the pages bright,
But his strokes? They vanish in the night,
Backgrounds fade, characters lose their might,
Inking should pop, not fade out of sight.
(Chorus)
Colletta’s ink, it’s a tragic sight,
Comic book world, where the art takes flight,
But his inking’s like a candle in the night,
Dulling down Kirby’s vibrant light.
(Verse 2)
Thor swings his hammer, but the impact’s weak,
Loki schemes, but his tricks look meek,
Romance and drama, the passion’s gone,
Ink so thin, it’s like a sad love song.
Gritty streets, where the heroes roam,
In Colletta’s ink, they lose their home,
Heroes clash, but the battles seem tame,
Inking’s an art, not just a game.
(Chorus)
Colletta’s ink, it’s a tragic sight,
Comic book world, where the art takes flight,
But his inking’s like a candle in the night,
Dulling down Kirby’s vibrant light.
(Bridge)
Art’s subjective, styles have their space,
But Colletta’s ink, it’s a disgrace,
To Kirby’s vision, bold and grand,
Deserves inks that make the pages stand.
(Verse 3)
So here’s to the artists who refine the line,
Who make heroes shine, villains divine,
Colletta’s legacy, a shadow cast,
In the world of ink, it’s in the past.
Respect to the legends who paved the way,
Inking’s an art, where talents play,
Colletta’s mark, it’s part of the game,
But in the comic world, we demand better fame.
(Chorus)
Colletta’s ink, it’s a tragic sight,
Comic book world, where the art takes flight,
But his inking’s like a candle in the night,
Dulling down Kirby’s vibrant light.
(Outro)
Let’s raise our voices, let’s make it clear,
Inking matters, it’s why we’re here,
Colletta’s style, it’s time to steer,
To a brighter future, where the art’s sincere.

The first incarnation of Marvel Superheroes featured lots of one-shot strips which seemed to go under the radar somewhat- such as this Medusa solo strip from issue 15 drawn by Gene Colan. Under most circumstances I wouldn't be completely thrilled to see Gene inked by Vince Colletta, but they're working really well here I feel. Vince was of course a wonderful romance artist back in the 50s, and that side of his style is perfectly suited to Medusa here...I suspect many of you may well disagree!

Awesome page from this cool story - I feel Vinnie did not take shortcuts inking women!
