Description

After a three-year hiatus from John Byrne commissions, I decided to jump back into the pool with both feet at the end of 2011. Departing from my formula of team + headquarters + vehicle for previous Byrne commissions, I decided on one of my favorite scenes from Giant-Size X-Men #1. While Dave Cockrum rendered the scene perfectly in that issue and indelibly etched it in my mind, I always felt that the Battle Royale with all 13 new and old members of the X-Men vs. Krakoa deserved more than a single panel.

I'm not sure what I'm more envious of. The art or you meeting JB :)

You lucky dog!Getting to meet John Byrne in his studio must have been great. You could also see his collection of original comic book art which even has a Brian Bolland Judge Death Lives page amongst the treasures.

It's definitely an incredible experience to meet John Byrne! He's obviously one of my favorite creators of all time and he doesn't do conventions any more, so to visit him in his studio is a real privilege. Aside from the experience of meeting him and picking up my commission in person, his studio is any comic fan's dream come true: The walls are lined with original work by other artists and then there's all the sculptures, models, toys, etc.

Congrats, bud. FANTASTICALLY huge piece of art from one of the giants, handed to you from the man himself. Awesome.

As a lifelong John Byrne fan, it was an incredible thrill to meet him in person and pick up the commission from him. Truly mind blowing!

This is just amazing. Getting a commission done by John is fantastic, but being able to visit him in his studio is priceless. That added value was well worth whatever you paid for the artwork.

Early nominee for coolest art post 2012. A mind blowing gigantic splash in the hands of the incomprable JB.
