Description"Sit down an' I'll tell you."Just like the words Logan spoke at the end of this issue, there's more to the story on my interest in these two pages of art as well... I admit, i came late (very late) to the OML party. After my good friend Tommy Garvey acquired some killer pages to this series, and at his insistence, i checked out the OML storyline around Feb of 2010 and in doing so, i knew full well that most, if not all, of the quality, affordable pages from this run had already been snapped up. When i first read it, these two pages immediately stood out to me as a really powerful turning point in the story. I figured they'd HAVE to be sold. I checked out Spencer's site and surprisingly enough, they were still available. Money was a little tight at the time so i decided to hold out a couple months when things would invariably get better. Well, they didn't get better. They got worse. Much, much worse. Without spilling my guts to the CAF world, let's just say that 2010 was a very bad year personally and financially. I really wasn't able to buy anything new for the collection and the potential for buying these pages was virtually non-existent. Still, they lingered in the back of my mind as being the first things i'd try to buy when life got better. But life getting better seemed to take longer and longer than expected. Finally, things came back around at the end of March this year after my annual show, The Edmonton Collectible Toy and Comic Show, ended up being our biggest and best year to date. I figured there was no way these pages would have survived the year+ wait, especially after McNiven's sale during X-Mas, but i inquired nonetheless, and to my utter shock, the pages were still up for grabs! So, while i'm beyond thrilled to own these two INCREDIBLE and pivotal pages to what is arguably one of the best Marvel storylines of the past 20 years, they now represent a little bit more to me than just two pages of art. They represent hope. Hope in the fact that sometimes, some things do work out in the long run. Maybe that all sounds a little hokey but that's my story and i'm stickin' to it. Thanks to all who took the time to read. Social/Sharing |

Awesome pages, Shane! I'm thrilled you were able to acquire them! They look even better than they did in the scans. I agree, those pages really spoke to me as well. Especially that last panel. Full of emotion, and totally Western in feel. HUGE congrats!

Here's to turning points in stories and in life. The art is fantastic, the story was pretty solid, and it's cool to see that you've gotten these pages after wanting them for so long.

Great, positive story and a lovely couple of pages where McNiven's skills as a storyteller really shine out. His gift for expressive faces which tell so much is really present in that last panel! Congrats.
