DescriptionThis incredible piece is the unused color version of the black and white poster released by DC Comics. Recently published in the pages of Wizard Magazine, this image of a battle-scarred Bruce Wayne is reportedly the first painting of Batman ever drawn by the artist."Each scar is a story told as we see the price the war on crime has cost Batman in this haunting piece by Alex Ross" HUGE THANKS TO HANS K FOR HELPING ME ADD THIS GRAIL TO MY COLLECTION! Isn't it always the way. I had my eye on this piece for a long time. Ever since I first saw it pop up on the Tri-State website. What kept me from buying it was (of course the price) but also that it wasn't the actual B&W piece that I saw in Wizard those years ago that if I ever had to own ONE piece of art...I think that would be it. So I hummed and hawed over this one...which of course is still the same image, just in color...and now I can hum and haw no longer...so I guess I should thank you for that....as I clearly can't sit on the fence anymore with it...trouble is, I also don't have the B&W piece AND I can no longer get this one. It's hard sometimes. Well, congrats. You clearly have great taste and I hope this one is next on your "to frame" list as it is well worthy of it...

Duane, This was my all time Favorite Ross! It is Framed! and has been since I got it. I could not believe It was for sale and I could not sleep unitil it was mine. I still look at it everyday in disbelief that it is mine. Hans was a pleasure to work with. Thanks for the comment.

I've wondered who had this. I can't tell you what an impression this Ross piece left upon me. It simply shows such an incredible insight of the down side of being The Batman. The realism is beyond words. One of my favorite Alex Ross paintings of all time!! "MASTERPIECE"!!!

I had to leave just one last comment here. You have some incredible pieces. There's no denying that Bob Kane Bats. However, if you ever decide to sell your collection, and only keep just one piece, then let it be this one. There's just so much power and depth in it. Mark my words. That painting, one day, will be worth a million dollars. Alex Ross is blessed with endless talent.

There is not a lot more that could be said about how meaningful a piece this was to most of us that love the Batman character. This is a special piece.

After busy days at work, I often look to select CAF pieces for inspiration, comfort and/or escape. This piece can do all that for me on each visit which makes it a very special piece. Thank for sharing Earl!

Unused or not, it doesn’t get any more iconic than this Alex Ross image of Batman.
