Description

Published as the cover to Gasm #3 magazine in February of 1978. A much more underground Heavy Metal tho much less interesting. So very 70's, right down to the groovy yet "subtle" title.

Also published in the beautiful Sci-Fi & Fantasy Art collection Tomorrow and Beyond: Masterpieces of Science Fiction Art from 1978. The book was an eye opening treasure trove of Boris, the Brothers Hildebrandt, Berkey, Rowena, etc. but way too expensive at my tender age. And so, my first sacrifice upon the altar of Art were the joys of reading the latest adventures of Spidey, Cap & The X-Men for the next couple of weeks -- not an easy task but damn well worth it!!

15x20 acrylics on masonite.

Hey Joe, AWESOME painting! I have the book "Tomorrow And Beyond" too, and I remember this painting well! A big Congrats on getting such a great example of Stephen's work!

Gasm. Hmm. Nope, it's too subtle for me. I don't get it. Steve Hickman's work is legendary and this is a beautiful painting.
