Description

Big fan of Marshall's characters for Cap'n Quick & The Foozle and his Strange Portfolio (Schanes & Schanes, 1979), including the Grey Stranger and "Midnight" his feline familiar (lounging atop the dragon's head). Since I couldn't find a name for the Grey Stranger's black cat, I named her after a best friend's lovable black cat, and I'm calling the dragon Vermithrax Pejorative after a famous drake of film. Imagine #1 (Star*Reach, 1978) had the Grey Stranger battling Zxererelis on the original cover from April 1978, so this is the earliest I know of the characters making an appearance in Marshall's sketches.
