DescriptionAs a child growing up in the 1960’s, I was a heavy reader of funny animal and humor comics. The best examples were created by Carl Barks. As a teenager and young adult, I bought nearly all his comic book stories in various reprints until finally getting all ten sets of the Carl Barks Library. Along with Charles Schulz and Chuck Jones, he's one of my "3 C's" who have brought me the greatest pleasure from childhood to adtulthood. This was my first example of his artwork. At the end of his career, he was writing the Huey, Dewey, & Louie Junior Woodchucks stories for other artists. This shows he was doing far more. While helping my brother Stuart at SDCC, our friend and booth neighbor Cliff Erickson had two pages for sale. I had strong memories of this story when the Woodchucks discover a whale stranded ashore by a tidal wave.In the 1990’s, Daan Jippes studied these Carl Barks layouts and drew the stories to a high standard.
