This is one of those rare times when a commission turns into a published cover. I never thought I would have the opportunity to own a full figure Steranko piece, nonetheless a Steranko cover! No it's not Cap 110, 111 nor 113, but it is one of 12 pieces Marvel has licensed to celebrate Captain America's 75th Anniversary. Marvel has been releasing a Steranko cover each month throughout the year. It has been a wild ride getting to this point. In 2012 I heard through an online forum that Steranko was taking a handful of commissions, which he rarely does, for a limited time so I jumped at the opportunity. I'd seen several other collectors post about their commissions within a few weeks and I heard great things about Steranko along the way. We quickly agreed on size, medium, and some ideas on the pose and mood of the piece inspired by one of my favorite panels from Cap #110. After a couple of months of patiently waiting I reached out to Jim and received a prompt and warm response saying this piece was on his list. Long story short, we did this back and forth for 3 years. Jim was always quick to respond and very friendly along the way and he did not disappoint. I was lucky enough to thank Jim in person at the 2016 Heroes Con. His talent, energy and enthusiasm are truly gifts. Many thanks to Jim for making this piece possible!!! Social/Sharing |

Wow!!! When you mentioned you had a big piece to add to you gallery, you weren't kidding, George. Truly amazing that you were fortunate enough to get a commission from Mr. Steranko, but then for it to end up as a cover . . . I'll say it again . . . Wow!!!
