Description

The scenario:

Kryptonite Man has breached the Fortress of Solitude. Beppo has succumbed to the kryptonite radiation. Krypto is on the verge of defeat. Immune to the radiation, Proty transforms into a snake to defend Kandor and his injured teammates. Fortunately, Comet and Streaky have heard the Fortress alarm. Unfortunately for the Kryptonite Man, they are not Kryptonian.

How it came to be:
Val Semeiks drew my excellent Last Stand for Terra-Man piece a few months ago. I asked him to choose another commission from a group of scenarios. He chose an early version of this one. All I told Val was: Kryptonite Man holding Krypto by the throat, Beppo on the ground defeated, Comet and Streaky approaching from behind for the rescue, and Proty either an animal or not in the piece at all. Val suggested the Fortress as the background for the piece, suggested including the bottle city of Kandor, and suggested including Proty as a snake. In other words, Val fleshed out the original idea into this awesome piece.

As always, Val sent me a thumbnail sketch for feedback, then a layout sketch for more feedback, and then the final commission. I cannot recommend him enough.
