DescriptionRoy Thomas is second to none in his affection for Golden Age superheroes, although that was perhaps muted in the wake of the continuity rewriting wrangles of the late 1980s. His series Young All-Stars was begun in part to follow new characters in DC's WWII milieu, but he couldn't stay away from the classics for too too long. Here, Roy Thomas provides his retcon (in a good way!) answer to a continuity question that surely vexed him since childhood: why did Tex Thompson go from being homefront crimefighter Mister America to behind-enemy-lines operative Americommando? Here's the answer--he was enlisted to the new gig by the American government. Note the appearance of Tex's one-time sidekick Fatman. Ah, the Golden Age. When you could put a lampshade on your head and call yourself fit to fight crime! Social/Sharing |
