This is an odd thing that I have had for years. I got this from a strange dealer at a Charlotte HeroesCon who had a lot of Wildey art. He was talking about "the girls" which were Wildey pin-ups... and then he had a small group of art like this that he told me came from the Martian Chronicles.

As many of you know, the Martian Chronicles is actually a collection of short stories written by Ray Bradbury in the 1940's-50's which chronicled the colonization of Mars by humans fleeing a troubled and (eventually) devastated Earth. It told of the conflict between the native Martians and the new colonists.

In 1979 NBC joined with the BBC to produce a three-episode miniseries adaptation running just over four hours. It was written by Richard Matheson, was directed by Michael Anderson and had a large cast including Rock Hudson, Darren McGavin, Bernadette Peters, Bernie Casey, Roddy McDowall, Barry Morse and Fritz Weaver. A number of artists contributed to the production including Doug Wildey. This is one of the more striking pieces, done almost like a comic page, showing the action on Mars. At first I thought that this was Al Williamson... but plainly signed by Wildey and done in mixed media with vivid colors.

WOW, what a great find. I do remember this min-series. I would love to see more Wildey stuff.

Very cool piece of artwork. I am assuming it is pretty big since you had the split up the scans. Each panel stands on its own but the sequential aspect of the piece is also very appealing.

You are definitely correct on all fronts. The original is very large, and I had to piece the image together. Also the sequential flow of the scenes is nice and really true to the movie. I had two single images Wildey did but kept this one due to that... and the Wood/Williamson space ship in the third panel.
