Description

Backblast wasn't a character who was on my radar. But when my friends and I decided to attend Dragon Con 2025, which cosplay is a huge part of, I decided to make a GI Joe costume and chose Backblast because there was any real chance that anyone else would pick him! Since this was my first Joe costume, I wanted to get a sketch of Backblast at the con and since GI Joe artist Andrew Griffith was there, that was an easy choice! I've gotten several commissions from Andrew but this was my first time meeting him. He's a great guy and we talked a few times over the weekend. I set this up with him ahead of the show and when I told him I wanted Backblast, he sent me a photo of his Backblast figure that he has on display with his other GI Joe figures! Thankfully, Andrew's artwork of Backblast looks exceptionally better that I looked in my costume! But Dragon Con was a fun time and I'm thrilled with this pin-up!
