Description

Zip-a-tone Galore!!! Done in 1974 for Contemporary Pictorial Literature (CPL) #13 fanzine. Unfortunately, the fanzine stopped at #12.

According to JB on the JBF:
"This was done for CPL, for a series of essays I was writing about the top villains. There are companion pieces of Galactus and Darkseid.
Since it was done for a fanzine, it does not count as my earliest Marvel work -- there were a LOT of drawings of Marvel characters I did around that time, and earlier.

Perhaps the most astonishing thing about this piece, tho, is that all those gray tones are zip-a-tone, all painstakingly cut to shape, buffed down, and then trimmed to final fit. ALL of them!"
