I joke with another collector about Romita>Kane vs Kane>Romita

I think Gil Kane drew some of the greatest Spidey stories ever. But I think this page is evidence that John Romita Sr drew stories with MJ and Gwen better than anybody else.

When I think of MJ, I think of Romita's version of her. He makes this scene looks effortless and deceptively simple, even though some sophisticated storytelling is happening here. My vote for the greatest goes to Romita.

Kane > Romita, though Kane always did have trouble with Spidey's costume, the webs and eyes specifically. This is a really nice example of Romita's Romance art!

If Kane did this page, you would have had nostril holes like elctrical sockets on the best supporting cast in all of comics. Here, Romita Sr. has the soft touch that he perfected in the soap opera romance era of the 50's. What is more exciting are the frames on the walls that have curatted de-butts all over them.

Yes Gwen and MJ just shine on this page, but what I can't get over, is Harry Osborn doing the Mouse (shades of Soapy Sales)? Congrats.

I gotta lean JR SR > Kane, although I adore Gil's work also. JR just pleased a 10 year old brain more, plus he was very kind to me.
