DescriptionHere's the splash to the first Marvel comic I bought off the spinner rack in 1974. An epic battle Avengers vs. Star-Stalker— a dragon-like alien that appealed to my early fascination with Dungeons & Dragons and Space Exploration— ultimately sparked a lifelong passion for comics.I still own my original (well loved) copy of Avengers 124. Lucky me that two legends John Buscema and Dave Cockrum drew this incredible splash to pull me in! Social/Sharing |

I loved the 2 issues that Cockrum inked over John Buscema! I wish they had collaborated more! Congrats on getting this very nostalgic page for yourself!

I always love it when collectors are reunited with their first comics. Even more so when it's the first page of their first comic. Welcome to the club! It makes a wonderful page all the more better.

Wow! Title splash to your first comic - doesn't get much better than that. Big congrats, Dino. And based on this image, no surprise why you kept going with comics after this one :) Just a great shot of the team!

A Buscema/Cockrum Avengers splash, very cool. That fact that it's the splash to your first every comic, ultra cool. But the most cool thing to me is seeing your original beat-to-heck copy of Avengers #124 in mylar. Precious indeed.

Great artwork. After looking at what you did to the comic ( Almost loved to death ) I worry you might inflict similarly severe creases and edge wear to the artwork. Restrain yourself. Lol.

Acquiring a piece from the first comic you ever bought is an experience that is truly special. It also just happens to be a really nice splash as well, but that's a bonus. Kudos, Dino!

This artistic combination was way too short. Buscema and Cockrum only collaborated on two issues from the Avengers, but they left a great memory. While I am partial to Avenges 125, it is indeed a gem in anyone's Avengers collection to have either cover art, splash art, or interior art from one or both of these issues.
