Description

This is a piece that I owned once & sold & then bought again over a decade or two later on eBay. This is actually a pretty important piece of art for Mark Schultz fans. This rough was for an ad for a ski resort spring break special. Mark told me that it really bothered him because it was promoting skiing while drinking & he felt that was morally wrong. He said it convinced him that he needed to get out of commercial advertising & so it was part of the reason that we got Xenozoic Tales & all of the other great projects that Mark has done.

I definitely understand his feelings about the piece. From a strictly artistic standpoint, I like the piece. It accents the cartoony Wally Wood aspects of his early work while the women's hair in particular hints at his later style.

Anyway, I was glad to bring this piece back home. It traveled from Texas to England to California, with who knows how many stops in between. It isn't going anywhere any time soon.

Phil,

I love this piece. Great art and great fun. As well, always loved Mark's pencils. And, owe it to the sexist pig in me but, based on the shading between her legs, it looks as if the girl in the striped sweater on the bottom is skiing bottomles, with her pubic hair showing.
