DescriptionProud to share Mike Zeck’s iconic painted cover to Punisher #1 magazine with Frank Castle holding two massive guns ready to bring serious heat…plus lots of painted bricks! With all four Punisher Limited Series painted covers locked away in private collections for decades, I'm so thrilled to get this killer piece! Mark Texeira collaborated for maximum impact on this guns-blazing cover. The subtlety of the painted tones was more or less lost in the published cover, but here you can appreciate it in all its glory. Oil on huge 18 x 24 board, signed by Zeck and framed for my wall.Social/Sharing |

that is killer!. it's great to get a regular drawing from Zeck but to get a fully painted cver is next world. this captures Frank on a typical night going food shopping then runs into a robbery in progress at the store and winds up having a shoot out with the criminals in the back alley. lol those use of the red behind hiim with the partail shadow on his forehead as he gets ready to return the fire. love the shadow of the criminal as he is shooting bits of brick oof the side of the building. such little details add to the dramatic effect of the piece, prime Zeck mastery. congrats on this grail,

Outstanding! So cool to see the OA here of this pairing of Zeck and Texeira...you can clearly see both their contributions. Got Zeck's foundational style and figure work and those trademark Tex oils over it! Frank's the perfect character to get this dynamic duo treatment. Congrats, Dino!

Congrats Dino! This was my grail too. When this was up for auction at HA a long time ago, I was willing to go all out (which at the time for me was $10k) but sadly it wasn't enough. Another great piece turned up later so I was able to re-purpose that money though.

While I LOVED the Punisher mini-series cover back when they first came out, I've long since felt that airbrushing is a technique that is very much stuck in the 1980's. So while they're still cool images, I find the airbrushing kind of cheesy looking. So this cover is one I put over and above the mini-series covers, thanks in large part to Texeira's more painterly, acrylic painting approach. Great stuff, man, congrats!

Phenomenal Punisher cover! Doesn't get much more better than this! Who but Mike Zeck can draw such an iconic scene of Frank Castle ducking behind a brick wall as bullets fly at him? It's a fantastic cover, with Frank waiting for just the right moment when he can burst out, guns blazing, to take out the bad guys. The scene is gloriously brought to life by Mark Texteira's powerful painting. I love little touches--like the bits of brick breaking off from bullets hitting the wall. This is a painting worthy of being called a grail. Serious congratulations on an epic pick-up!

You can legit see how much quality detail is lost on the published cover compared to the original art work. Glorious guns ablazing!
