DescriptionEvery hero is defined by his archenemy. Superman has Lex Luthor. Batman has the Joker. Green Lantern has Sinestro. Curiously enough, this perennial villain doesn't even appear on the cover to issue #7 of Green Lantern, published in July of 1961. Consequently, this p. 1 splash is Sinestro's first appearance ever, while also being one of the earliest Silver Age Green Lantern pages known to exist. From the way the page is composed, with hero and villain facing off, it's almost as if Kane knew that Hal Jordan and Sinestro would spend an eternity battling one another. It's a beautiful piece, and I'm honored to give it a home.Social/Sharing |

Aside from the "historic" nature of the piece, I really like the early Silver Age feel of the art – the classic Gil Kane perspective shot, the still classic '60's downtown landscape, and cars, Green Lantern's less muscular, smoother look and, yes, the superimposed first appearance of Sinestro looking appropriately "dastardly" (rather than scarily evil). It's a really beautiful page and you have my sincerest congratulations for acquiring it.

What a page, with the introduction of a major villain. You are a lucky man.

What a great find. I always loved those Kane GL pages. There's something about his perspective and his human figures that I find very appealing. He made me believe in the power ring, too. Of course, Sinestro is the classic GL foe. Congratulations.

I believe that Joe was Gil's best inker, this art beats the stuff Gil did for Marvel by miles...great page and you have a great gallery.
