Description

story title : "Homecoming!"

publication date : May 1984

total number of pages : 22

This is THE grail piece from my Spider-Man collection.

When it popped-up on eBay last year I couldn't believe my eyes.

Since eighties black suit Spider-Man art is a main focus of mine, I just had to try and get it.

An extreme high eSnipe bid (well from my POV it was extremely high) was just barely enough to get it.

When I saw that message 'Congratulations, you've won this item!' I swear my heart stopped beating for a couple of seconds!

I know it's not a cover or even a splash page - but the historic significance of this piece is IMO immense!

It's so great to see him arriving back in Central Park and it takes a couple of panels for him to realise he's back on earth and the Secret Wars are behind him.

Of course, this also is the page where the symbiont that later becomes Venom arrives on earth ...

There was some crazy bidding on that page, and rightfully so, it's one of the best from THE Marvel Comic of the 80s - congrats!

I have always thought that the Frenz/ Breeding art team have been underrated on Spider-Man. For me, they were one of the best, and this page brilliantly illustrates why. Just amazing.

I wanted to go for this one myself, but simply wasn't able to at the time. However, it always does my heart good knowing it went to a fellow collecter who knows and appreciates this story / art as much as I do. I also enjoyed reading your back-story on scoring the page. Maybe not a cover or a splash, but who cares. "THIS" is a key moment in of history and a fantastic work of art. A blessing from un above, to be sure. "CONGRATULATIONS ON GREATNESS"!!!

Great page...and great story! Everytime I see something I gotta have, I always bid high and strong. After I win, then I say to myself, 'how the hell am I gonna pay for this!!!!". But I always do.... And with great stuff like this page, you'll never lose---unless you didn't win the page, of course!
