Description

I love Joan Pelaez's take on the mermaid myth, which wryly suggests these sensual creatures have way too much time on their hands. This drawing strikes me as less of a lesbian image than one of boredom and role-playing.

The attention to detail is impressive here, but typical of Mr. Pelaez's fine work, from disparity in height between the pair to the whimsical punctuation of the curiously narcissistic fish.
