DescriptionGreen Lantern has been blessed with many tremendous artists over the years, the great Neal Adams, Gil Kane and Mike Grell to name a few. Most recently, Green Lantern has been lucky to have had memorable runs by two tremendous artists Ethan Van Sciver and Ivan Reis. As a Green Lantern fan, I've been looking for a page for awhile, but there were certain constrictions, he had to be holding the lantern and he had to be taking the oath. Happilly the nice folks at the Artists Choice were able to accommodate me with this page that satisfied both those criteria. In this page, which comes from the soon to be classic secret origin retelling by Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis, a young Hal Jordan is taking the oath for the very first time and lighting up his lantern symbol for the very first time after going through Green Lantern boot camp. Like most other Geoff Johns books, it manages to be a great read while seamlessly explaining new aspects of the Green Lantern mythos (like the floating lantern symbol). Thanks also to the great Ivan Reis, an exceptionally talented artist and a truly wonderful guy, who hesitated and examined the page just long enough to cause me concern about whether he would give it back ( LOL! ), before he signed this page for me at the 2009 NYCC. This is absolutely stunning. I don't think I have EVER seen GL drawn better, and that is really saying something

With all due respect to greats like Gil Kane, Neal Adams, Mike Grell, Ethan Van Scriver and the many others who have drawn this character, this has got to be one of the most powerful and dramatic renditions of Green Lantern I have ever seen. I'm glad you held out for something that included all the elements in your criteria. I agree that the oath and the lantern are a must when it comes to a classic GL shot. And although I am not at all familiar with Oclair Albert the inker, his conrtibution to this piece simply cannot be ignored. Since inkers are essentially the last person to touch the artwork, they can either make or break any drawing. In this case, Oclair has really done his penciller justice! And of course God bless Ivan for truly spectacular pencils on this dynamic image! Congratulations Artemis! This is a winner in every sense of the word. And surely the envy of every GL and art fan out there! WOW!

Having seen the art in person, I can say it looks even better than the scan. Ivan probably wishes he charged more for the piece. Lol. Congratulations. Cheers! N.

Reis is raw talent! This splash is better than most covers! You are knocking them out of the park, Artemis. A great example of one of my favorite characters, GL. If only the powers that be at Time Warner would snap out of their drunken stupor and develop a GLantern movie before we all die in anticipation!

This should be a cover/poster/rock album cover....whatever, it deserves to be seen. What a score!

A powerful Green Lantern image that is drawn and inked very well. Reis and Albert are a great combination. Easily one my favorite pieces in your collection. Nice addition!

I saw this art at the NYCC 07. It is more beautiful in person. Ivan has an EXCELLENT eye. His work has only gotten better over time. I would love to be able to afford a splash like that but can't Maybe someday.

One of the best Hal pinups of all time! It's inspirational- it makes you want to cheer "HELL YEAH!" or to recite the GL oath as you read it on the page!
