Description

This is one of my favorite Hulk covers of the modern era. Brandon Peterson's Hulk emerging from the serene forest symbolically portrays the Hulk's life as he is constantly emerging from the comparatively serene Bruce Banner. The cover is extremely well-rendered, and the detail is something to behold.

Also, as one uber - collector pointed out to me, the cover may be an homage to Marie Severin's iconic July 1968 Hulk 105 cover (only Brandon Peterson knows for sure . . . ).

Interestingly, this is the cover to the first issue of Prelude to Planet Hulk (and also was used as the cover for the Prelude to Planet Hulk trade paperback), that preceded the Planet Hulk storyline and both of which are the first Hulk stories that I've read since John Byrne drew the title all those years ago. So there is some serendipity to this cover making its way into my humble collection.

when i saw this on the newstand, i immediately thought of hulk 105- a great cover then and a great homage now. brandon peterson is criminally underrated. great pick up!

Wow, Artemis, another stellar pickup! A very powerful Hulk image and incredibly detailed backgrounds! A great artist/inker collaboration - congrats once again! Yes, Ray Deforest is a very nice guy. I also had the pleasure of buying one of my favorite covers from him.
