Description

Finally I have a Captain Britain by the main man!

This piece is on Alan's website noted as a contribution to the British Fanzine Short Fuse and stating he inked it himself.

I tried to find a copy of Short Fuse to see what this was like published and couldn't find it anywhere. I wasn't surprised given the distribution of fanzines in the 1980's.

My luck changed when I came across the Classic UK Comics Zines website. There I found a PDF of Short Fuse #1 and was able to see this piece in it's original context. I've added scans of the front cover and back cover of Short Fuse #1 so you guys can see too.

This website is a goldmine of art, interviews and advertising from the 1980's and beyond. Check out Arken Sword alone for Alan Moore, Alan Davis, Brian Bolland, Glenn Fabry, Mike Kaluta, Stephen Bissette to name just a few of the contributers. Awesome stuff.

I originally bought this and the Ian Gibson illo from the publisher at a comic fair in Manchester( uk ) in the mid 2000's , never knew if it had been published so well done in finding it's history .

This is awesome! I had seen his covers for the fanzines Fusion and Arken Sword, but had never seen this. Very nice!
