My all time favorite Harold Gaze painting, titled �Butterflying�. Just a beautiful image - perfectly balanced, with delicate pen work underlying gorgeously rich water colors. I love this image, and when it came up for sale a decade ago I fought hard to get it but, alas, lost my chance. When it recently came back up for sale, I jumped, and couldn�t be happier to add it to the collection. Gaze was an early twentieth century fantasy artist, best known for his images of fairies and other mythical creatures . He worked at Disney for many years, most notably on Fantasia, but also illustrated a number of books and other media. All of his work is fantastic (see my other Gaze piece), but I always thought this was top of the heap. Big thanks to Zaddick L for making this happen. 12.5� x 10�, signed and dated lower right, with the original 1920 price ($99.90) printed on the back.

Luminous is the word. These watercolor layers (Rackham-esq) just make the work so magical!
