I have always wondered if this is actually possible (yes, I know he does it eventually in the comic). Any mathematicians reading this? This page is stunningly laid out and executed. Thank you for sharing.

You're asking if it's possible? Anything is, in the wacky world of comics.

That is a perfectly valid answer to my question (and a reminder that I should not take things so literally). A quick look at an online converter calculates that at the rate of one grain a second it would take almost 35 days to count 3,000,000 grains of sand so not really possible for a non-superpowered person without becoming overcome first by tiredness, thirst and hunger. Isn’t the CAF community great? Between the web and us there is no question that goes unanswered, especially with a particularly learned presence in our midst.

Beautiful center panel that squeezes in on the closeup to give Jesse a very sinister and serious look. Some of the best pages from Dillon will have a nice head shot to start or end to put a stamp on the Ennis dialogue. 3 million grains if sand is a very biblical verse in Psalms 139 verses 17-18. "How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God, how vast is their sum! If I were to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand; and when I awake, I am still with You."

Comics, popular music, and now the Bible are cool topics in which to have expertise. Jesse/Garth must have had that Biblical reference in mind, and that is way-cool to be able to recall it, like Jules in Pulp Fiction, and enlighten us. Thank you!
