DescriptionIn "The Art of Brian Bolland" Bolland talks about his run of Dredd covers for Eagle comics. He enjoyed working on a lot of the "fun" stories that he didn't originally illustrate. He mentioned his cover for the League of Fatties issue, and this one, Umpty Candy. It certainly looked like he had a good time with this one.As a kid, I loved the detail of this cover. And that smile! It's like some kind of demented Mentos ad. It's not my most valuable piece, but it's probably my personal favorite. Social/Sharing |

Congrats on this one! Really showcases all that is great about Brian's best work: a unique sense of humor, unparalleled inking, compelling composition, and some sarcasm

Now that is something you don't really expect to see, Dredd smiling. It's probably illegal in Maga-City One. Nice cover, congrats

So damn brilliant. Judge Dredd was such a defining series for the 80's and Bolland's covers were all classic.

I think you put it perfectly when you wrote that Bolland looks like he was having fun when he drew this cover. That and his wicked sense of humor shine through.
